Pickling Spice
You might be surprised to learn that there is archeological evidence that pickled foods, including cucumbers-turned-snappy, date to the ancient Mesopotamians. Today, we enjoy pickled foods in much the same way and for the same reason – to preserve foods.
Our pickling spice blend contains the traditional
mustard,
black peppercorns and
bay leaf, plus
dill seed,
ginger,
allspice,
coriander,
clove,
chili pepper and
cinnamon to lend heat, savory flavor and sweetness. Use to marinate meats before roasting, to preserve fruits and vegetables, eggs, olives and, of course, cucumber pickles!
