The sweet orange is the fruit of an evergreen tree in the rue family that is thought to be original to Asia. Today, it is the most widely cultivated citrus crop in the world, with Brazil leading in production.
The juice of this variety of orange typically graces the breakfast table, but the peel is actually where the majority of nutrients and oils reside. In fact, the peel contains close to the same amount of vitamin C as well as pectin, fiber, potassium, magnesium, folic acid, limonene, carotenoids, and more than 50 flavonoids.
