Gotu kola is an annual, creeping, aquatic plant found in wetlands
throughout India and Southeast Asia. Also known as Asiatic pennywort,
gotu kola has an important place in the culture of the region with a
history of use that dates back centuries. In addition to serving as
food, the herb is regarded as a potent restorative in Ayurveda and its
regular consumption is said to reward a long life.
Gotu kola is also reputed to strengthen the crown chakra, which is
associated with spirituality and one’s connection to the Divine. In
fact, yogis enjoy partaking of the herb as a ceremonial tea to enhance
meditation.
