Guggul is a resin or gum obtained from a tree in the torchwood (Burseraceae) family, which includes frankincense and myrrh. The dried sap is collected from 15 to 20-year-old trees and dried for an entire year. Guggul resin, whole granules or powdered, is used as incense and in perfumery. It is also an important herbal in Vedic medicine.
